Word Tools - Language and Hyperlink

worda.jpgWord has a variety of language tools that will not only correct spelling and grammer but help you use a variety of descriptive words by finding synonyms. Also Word can be used to create a “hypermedia” document, connecting your file to the Web or other files (image, text, sound, movie etc) on your hard-drive.

First thing you will need is some text in a Word document. Today we will use a document I have already prepared. The document can be downloaded from the “click here” link below. To download it >Right click on the link>Select “Save Target As..”>Save the document to you Computer Skills folder. Once it has downloaded go to you folder and open the document.

Before you do anything with the document read the tutorials on the left under the heading “Pages” titled “Word Language Tools Part 1″, “Word Language Tools Part 2″ & “Word Tools - Create an External Hyperlink”.

Once you have read the tutorials do the following using the methods explained in the tutorials…

  • Spell check the document
  • Find synonyms for all words in bold text
  • Turn the word “Socceroos” into a hyperlink to the official Football Australia site.
  • Turn the words “World Cup” into a hyperlink to the official World Cup site.
  • Put your name in the footer (>View>Header and Footer)
  • Save your document with your name in the title to the Student Share drive (P drive) in the folder >Y9-10 CompSkills>Word Tools Exercise.
